Description
The colours in my works date back to the history of 45 – 50-years’ old visual art’s culture in Iran, and the history of painting during Saqqakhaneh School. In the school of Saqqakhaneh, colours had a grey theme, and more vibrant colours were much less used in works of art.
After that era, a well-known painter, Hannibal Alkhas, emerged onto the scene, and performed perfectly in terms of his colour choices. I really believe him to be a teacher. I have never been a student of his, but I know that he has trained some talented students such as Ahmad Vakili. I have seen Vikili’s works and observed the way in which he uses blue colours with a courage which the painters of past generations either did not dare to use at all, or used much less.
